Your Morning Coffee 09/09/2022

Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father make us daily ever more like his son Jesus. Father, we love you and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Help us not to allow our struggles and sufferings to dictate the mood of our thoughts. We daily and desperately need your son Jesus to call us ever closer to your side where he welcomes us into deep, abiding, comforting, sweet intimacy. Father, in the name of your son Jesus and by the Spirit, help us to entrust everyday lives to you, that you would lift us up and enable us to do and enjoy your will!

Your Morning Song: "Man of Your Word" by Maverick City Music

Your Morning Scripture: Isaiah 40:27-31

Why do you say, O Jacob,

and speak, O Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my right is disregarded by my God”?

Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the faint,

and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and young men shall fall exhausted;

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint.

...

Though we are each unique, we are in many ways the same. And here is one.

You have, you are, or you will suffer dark days. Your heart will dry up and your bones will ache, and your very thoughts will fall to pieces as your suffering shatters your soul. And in all of this we will be tempted to blame God. To accuse him of abandoning us. Of not caring. Of not loving.

These days have come, are here, or are coming.

But God's word, alive and at work in the world and in us cries out...

"Have you not known? Have you not heard?"

As I stop today and look back over the last year, it is no exaggeration say that many of those days have been dark to the point of desperation, despair, defeat, and bone-deep, destructive doubt. Betrayal. Hurt. Loss of work. Sacrifice. The fear of losing a child to cancer. Working a hard job. Bleeding money and struggling to keep hoping. Moving across the country. New job. New home. An injury. Illnesses.

My way is not hidden from God.

When our suffering and struggle turn our heart and bones to dust, what do we do?

My way is not hidden from God.

When I cannot. God can.

But I must wait on him. His timing. His plan. His purposes. His power. God loves us all so much and longs to comfort us and provide for us. But will we trust him? Will we entrust ourselves, our struggles and our sufferings to him?

Will we wait on God? Do we live our lives from out of God's strength? Or are we waiting for him to make us strong? Do we trust him to lift us up and give us what we need to rejoice in his love for us?

No matter what?

My way is not hidden from God.

And though I have suffered much.

I have been loved more.
