Good evening!
Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father help us to consider carefully what arises from our well-spring hearts, and what grows in the gardens of our thought-life. Father, we too easily and too often ignore the reality of our inner self, the one only you can see. Convict us as we need convicting. Comfort us as we need comfort. And let our hearts and minds be concerned with your Will and your Word. In the name of Jesus help us to be rightly. Amen!
Your Evening Song: "I Stand Amazed" by Reawaken Hymns
Your Evening Scripture: Proverbs 10:9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
...
Integrity. Or a lack thereof.
What are the consequences of either one?
Walk securely? Be found out? What do those really mean?
The more obvious of the two is the second. Be found out. If you do not live with integrity, other people will notice. God may allow you a time of dishonesty in secret, but eventually, if you do not surrender to God's Will and discipline, you will be found out. You will be called out. Your lack of integrity will lead to shame and failure and grief.
But that isn't the full meaning of it.
There are some who have lived the lie of false integrity, of cheating and lying, and only been discovered after death. So there has to be more to "found out" than simply other people.
And this is our first clue to both the true answer for "found out" as well as how to understand "walk securely."
It isn't just about other people.
It is about God.
The promise of "found out" begins and ends with God. He will know. He will know it all. There is no way or place or time in which God does not know the absolute truth about each of us, our integrity. And our lack of it.
God will always find out.
Now. When you read that, did you feel anything? Too many of us fear God too little, and in the confines our hearts and minds, without any God-fear, we do not pursue integrity.
God will always find out if you are living with integrity, or not.
And if you are not, then He will discipline you. He will convict you. He will do everything He can to bring you back to the flourishing beauty and goodness of what it means to live with integrity.
When you think, and speak, and act, are you concerned with what God thinks of you? Or do your appetites and opinions and desires drown God out until He might as well be your pet. Or just an old dusty bible on a shelf.
He knows. Do you care what God thinks of your real, actual inner life? Or do you exist foundationally on your own terms?
God will find out. What if He discovers that you are actually living a life of integrity? The promise here is that you will walk securely. What does God have to do with that?
If you humble yourself and submit yourself to God's definition of integrity, righteous, God-fearing living, then God will make your walking, your living, secure.
God will guide you. He will comfort and care for you. He will make you wise and mature and deeply trustworthy. He will grow you in way you never could have imagined. He will guard your heart and mind with His perfect peace. He will shower you with His mercies afresh and anew every morning. He will hold you close to Himself and ground you in His divine stability.
You have a choice to make. The truth is, you've already made it. Be honest with yourself. Are you walking securely, or have you been found out?
If you don't like your answer, God loves you so much that He's inviting you to do something about it. And He will help you.
