Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father call us out of despair and bitterness and weariness, and into the joy of daily, desperate dependence on Him, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Father, you love us! The phrase itself cannot cannot contain or explain how wonder-full and amazing that Truth really is for us! Help us. Help us to love you back. Help us to love each other as Jesus did and as He commanded us to do. May we do our best to take advantage of what little time we have here in this life. May we do your will in all things. In the name of Jesus reveal your will to us and help us do it! Amen.

Your Morning Scripture: John 14:1-3

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

...

The cross looms. Jesus has washed His disciples' feet. And now Judas has left to go and betray Him. And now Jesus, knowing intimately what is about to happen, is speaking to the disciples, in this time of darkness and fear, to encourage them. He speaks of their hope (Himself) and their future (with Him).

I officiated a funeral today. In the last few years I have spoken at so many funerals. The horror of sin is echoed in the earliest parts of Genesis in which it says this man lived this many years, and then he died.

Death is not natural. But, for those who are loved by Jesus and who have returned His love, death is also not forever.

And neither is our time here, on this earth, and in these bodies.

We have hope in Jesus. The kind of hope that steals the eternal horror of the coffin, turning "goodbye" into "see you later." He is coming back to to get us and take us to be with Him forever in a new Heaven and a new Earth, with new bodies to match our born again spirits.

And with this hope in mind, guarding us, guiding us, and growing us, let's be honest. We won't be here long. Our time is short. Our days and weeks and months and years are flying by. Let's take advantage of them, as God's kids. For our time here may be short, but our hope is eternal and kept in God's sure promises.

Let's pray. Let's read His word. Let's sing songs of praise to Him. Let's love each other so well the world wonders why and how. Let's take full advantage of what little time we have left, and embrace whatever life God has given us. Even and especially if it is hard.

We won't be here long.

Let's live and love well,

while we are.

Because we're God's kids.

He is with us.

He is for us.

He will help us!
