Your Morning Coffee 03/20/2023

Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father break us of our independence, our self-reliance, our self-trust. Father, we are not you. We cannot be trusted to sustain our selves through even the smallest suffering, much less the most sharp and severe. Our hearts and bodies fail us daily, Father. We need your help. Fill us, by your Spirit, with your strength. Make us able to do what you command us to. Sustain us in all things that we might persevere and grow and mature and better know, by doing, your Will. In the name of Jesus, draw us deeper, daily into your Word where we may find your Will stated clearly, and do it. Help us Father, you are our only hope. Amen.

Your Morning Scripture: Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart

and my portion forever.

...

Our flesh and our heart may fail, morally and physically, but for God's children, we who are faithful to our Heavenly Father in Christ, there is no such thing as lasting failure.

How should we respond to our failing flesh and heart? We should run to God, either in repentance or for refuge, or both, if you're anything like me.

How do you respond to your own physical and moral failings? Do you entrust yourself to God? Do you try to get closer to Him? Do you ask forgiveness? Do you ask for His guarding peace which surpasses understanding? Do you rest in His presence in prayer? Do you sing with Him in worship? Do you seek His Will in His Word to help you become more like His Son?

Yeah, sometimes I do. Sometimes you do. But sometimes we aren't as quick as we should be to trust in God's strength to fill our hearts. Sometimes we don't see God Himself as being good enough to satisfy our physical and moral and emotional needs forever.

Brothers and sisters, our heart and flesh will surely fail. We will all deal with physical and moral struggle. May we also be those who take God's Word as true when it says that He will be pour strength and that He will sustain us faithfully through all suffering and failure forever.

As we wrestle in our own hearts with this, may we also be on the lookout for each other. We are messy, failing fleshes and hearts together. And together our hearts are filled with God's strength through Christ. And together we will, from now to forever, be satisfied and sustained by God Himself who promises us Himself. Encourage each other as our hearts and fleshes fail! May we remind each of God's promises and provisions and protections as told to us in His Word.

And as we grow in our walk we will yearn less to know more, and, though we will indeed know more, we will instead yearn to be obedient, loving, steady, and grateful.

May we be a people known as, "Entrusts Themselves to God."
