Good morning!
Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father brush off of us any lies or misunderstandings that pull us away from His side. Father, we are your children, but sometimes, like children, we think things that are not true, or are not quite correct, about our relationship with you. Help us to dig deep in our Bibles, Father, to see what you have to say about us and to us. May we be those who hear your word, and obey it. In the name of Jesus, and by the Spirit whose making us more like Him, help us to remember who we are, and how. Amen!

Your Morning Scripture: Luke 8:19-21
Then His mother and His brothers came to Him, but they could not reach Him because of the crowd. And He was told, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you." But He answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it."
...
I've heard of two ways in which we misunderstand the kind of relationship that God has for us. Two ways that these verses do a very good job of joyfully correcting.
Jesus did not come to save us into His kingdom as slaves, or projects, or butts in seats, people in programs. He came to save us into His family. Our Heavenly Father wants more kids. Jesus calls those who hear and obey the Word of God His family. And so that is what we are. Family, but God's desire and design.
We are not numbers. We are not dollar signs. We are not somebody's project. We are family. And we ought to see each other that way, and treat each other that way.
Jesus did not come to save us so that we live however we want. The people Jesus calls family are those who obey God's Word. Jesus saves us from consequences of sin, the eternal death and separation from God. If He saves us from sin and its horrible consequence, eternal death, then we shouldn't, as saved people, God's kids, keep sinning. We can't be God's kids and just do whatever we want. Not just sin, but in our every day lives we need to be living for God's purposes as revealed in the Bible, not just what we want and dream of.
We are God's family because we love Him enough to deny ourselves and please Him instead.
We are not slaves, numbers, or projects. We are family.
We are not saved to forget God and do whatever we want.
We do what He wants, because He's our Father and we're His kids.
Thank you Jesus!
