Your Morning Coffee 09/19/2024

Writer: Colby AndersonColby Anderson

Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father refresh and quiet our souls today, with the comfort of knowing that He is in charge, and no one else is. Father, you are in charge of me. I cannot fully understand why you allow me any choice in anything at all! But you do. So may I choose all things in the name and way and attitude of Jesus, your Beloved Son. May I yield my "control" to you, and choose in a manner that aims for your delight, and not my own. In the powerful name of Jesus, by the Spirit, amen, amen, amen.

Your Morning Song: "Change My Heart O God" by Steven Moctezuma

Your Morning Scripture: Isaiah 64:8

But now, O Lord, you are our Father;

we are the clay, and you are our Potter;

we are all the work of your hand.

...

I am not in charge.

I can make some choices, but when the sun rises? When the storms come or go? When the seasons change? When the summer? When the snow?

No.

I am not in charge.

What machination of mine causes my heart to beat? What moment of choosing causes me to be?

There is not one. Who else but God could ever be in charge of anything?

There is not one.

How comfortable are you with not being in charge?

My own heart rebels at the thought of God's power in my hands.

But no. I am not in charge. It is not possible. There is no way.

For I am not the Potter.

We are the clay.

Please. Don't mistake the choices God has made for you, as you being in control over anything beyond your choices. And even then, our choices themselves are gifts from God, freely given.

What control we wield in life, in our coming and going, our getting up and laying down, are for our growth and our good. Nothing more, and certainly never less.

God is in charge. I am not. This is best.
