Your Morning Coffee 09/17/2024

Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father remind us again today, afresh and anew, that we are not "good enough," we are loved. Father, for you so loved us, your enemies, that you made a way for us to become your children. Jesus! And now we are. Help us to act like your children. Help us to obey you because we love you and want to please you, and not because obeying you could in any way be a form of control over you, Father. May it never be! In the powerful name of Jesus, by the guiding growing of the Holy Spirit, move us away from "good enough" and hold us fast in love. Amen!

Your Morning Song: "Fear Is Not My Future" by Brandon Lake + Chandler Moore

Your Morning Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

...

You are not good enough.

And neither am I.

We're not. We can't be. We never could be.

We are not good enough.

But Jesus is. He is good enough.

A musician once said, "If your identity is locked into your pluses and minuses as opposed to locked into the reality of the love of God, you're going to have trouble all your life."

We are God's children by grace, through faith. It is a gift. There is nothing we can do to earn it. And we certainly cannot do anything to keep it. We are instead, kept by the free gift.

Why do we so often and so easily get this wrong? Why do we get this so backwards?

God does not ask you to be good enough. He calls you to believe in His son Jesus, and come close to Him.

God wants intimacy with us, not performance.

Stop performing for God. Stop doing things for Him so that He will love you. Stop thinking that this is about you. It's not. It's about God.

You are loved. Obey God because you love Him too. Obey Him because you know its the only way to live and be alive and to flourish in anything.

You are loved by our Heavenly Father. So loved that He sent His son Jesus to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Salvation.

By grace, through faith, we are God's dearly beloved children.

We are not "good enough."

We are loved.

And that difference makes all the difference.
