Good morning!
Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father call out to us to seek the truth, first from Him, then from His children, and then from any place when judged by the Bible. Father, we are too quick to listen to our hearts, instead of guarding them and seeking good wisdom. Inspire us seek out mentors and others to speak truth in love to us about our attitudes, words, and actions. Help us, in the powerful name of Jesus, not be wise in our own eyes. Amen!

Your Morning Scripture: Proverbs 12:15
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man listens to advice.
...
When it comes to how we are living our lives, are we good listeners? When troubles arise, do you have a group of siblings in Christ you can go to for good, Godly advice?
Or do you think that whatever you do is right? Do you think whatever you plan is right? Do you think whatever you prefer is right?
Are we good at listening to advice? Or would we rather be listened to? It makes my heart ache at how many times I'll come up with a solution to something, feel clever, only to realize that my wife said that very thing, a week ago. And I didn't hear her.
Too easily and too often we get caught in the magnetic, seductive, delicious whirlpool of trusting in our own inner voice. But the Child of God will be one who hungers for good advice.
An encouragement, to be the wise one who listens to advice. Listen intentionally! Focus now, on building up relationships that will yield a harvest of good advice in the years to come. Build your circle of trust, and fill it with Godly people more mature than you. Do not put a single unbeliever in that space. Ever. What business does light have with darkness?
And yet...
Perhaps you've heard of "panning for gold." Some still do this, but in olden days, they would take dirt and sand from the bottom of certain rivers, and slowly rinse out the common debris to find flecks and bits of gold.
Even with unbelievers we can receive helpful advice, though in a much different fashion than our Godly circle of loving truth.
Whatever is offered to you, accept it graciously, and sift through what is there, using the Bible to help you find the golden truth that belongs only to God.
May we be known as those who listen graciously and respond sincerely. May we treasure good advice. May we build relationships with other Children of God to get and give it. May we even be willing to sift through any advice that comes our way, using God's word.
And if we live in this way, we will flourish, filled from the inside pouring to out. May the Holy Spirit do this for you, in you, and through you.
Do not be a fool. Do not rest in the folly of your own "rightness." Do not be wise in your own eyes. But seek God's wisdom.
