Followorship
FOLLOWORSHIP LEADS US THROUGH A JOURNEY
Followorship is a lifelong journey with EIGHT GATEWAYS of experience and discovery.
Each gateway is experiential and requires us to re-discover who we are and what we will do in response.
THE FIRST FOUR GATEWAYS ARE GOD'S GIFT TO US.
They are revelatory. We receive them in faith and are renewed by them.
THE SECOND FOUR GATEWAYS ARE RESPONSE IN NATURE.
We respond in ways we could not before we received the gift of salvation, baptism and our new nature in Christ.
God works with us throughout each gateway by His Word and sacraments.
The 8 Followorship Gateways
LOST
We are IMAGO DEI (the image bearers of God) who have become separated from a close loving connective relationship with our Creator.
Through humanity’s sin and rebellion towards our Creator all humanity is lost. We experience being LOST as a human family, as well as individually.
SAVED
Our Creator is busy re-establishing this relationship and restoring our identity as he seeks after us and invites us to seek him.
Through the death and resurrection of God’s Son Jesus Christ we are invited to be saved as we proclaim God as King and believe He was raised from the dead.
BAPTISM
God’s covenant invitation comes through the death and resurrection of His Son and by the re-establishment of relationship through our baptism. Grafted and adopted back into God’s family we experience this restoration of relationship.
Our baptism is the essence of our connection to God and his family, the Body of Christ. We are fully restored in identity, relationship and purpose.
NEW
CREATION
Through the gift of salvation and the new reality of baptism we are a new creation in Christ. The old is gone and the new has come.
By the power of the Spirit we experience new life and new creation. This process is powered by faith.
FOLLOW
We walk this out in our daily lives as we follow Christ, not by earning merit, but by the grace given to us in Christ. We follow him because we discover we were made to follow Christ.
Just like fish were made to swim, we were crafted to follow Christ. It’s who we were made to be and what we were made to do!
WORSHIP:
In this journey, we begin to worship God with whole hearts and lives. We discover worship is not just something we do, but that it’s a whole way of life. It spreads into every area: our vocation, avocation, leisure, family, community. We are image bearers of God who were created to follow and worship Christ in Spirit and in truth.
MULTIPLY:
As we live out this new reality we learn and see how our story is being re-made to bring God glory and also bring others back into the Father’s arms. We naturally develop a hunger to multiply this experience for the sake of others.
We are blessed to be a blessing to others and we use the gifts God has given us. We are called to love God and love neighbor in the Great Commandment. And this commandment is realized in the Great Commission to go and make disciples.
KINGDOM:
This is life in the Kingdom of God.
It is our new reality that we live in and invite others into. A world where Christ is King and his Kingdom rules and reigns in the hearts of all people.
